Open Dental read in depth, written with care.
Leady connects to your Open Dental through its own API, with a key your practice enables. It reads what booking needs, writes a small set of records you can list on one hand, and never touches the clinical side. Nothing connects before your BAA is signed.
Read for booking. Written with care. The clinical side, never.
The connection reads only what booking needs and has no request at all for the rest. Here is the summary; the field-by-field list follows.
To offer a real time
- Schedule: provider schedules, blockouts and appointments
- Operatories (chairs)
- Providers
- Appointment types and lengths
- Patient lookup by the caller's phone number
Leady keeps a copy of when each chair is busy, without notes or patient details.
Only on Base and above
- An appointment in the chair, held or confirmed, with a note
- A communication log entry
- A task for your team, if you want one
- A patient record only for a new caller, as a prospective patient
On Free, Leady writes nothing. It reads to recognize callers and leaves a message.
No request exists for these
- Clinical and procedure notes, charts, treatment plans and perio
- Medical history, allergies and prescriptions
- Imaging and documents
- Insurance plans and claims
- Ledgers, balances, payments and payroll
Leady never deletes anything in Open Dental, and never writes what a caller said.
Every record, and exactly what happens to it.
Switch the license to see the difference. Free reads to recognize a caller and writes nothing; Base holds or books the chair.
A hold is a real appointment wearing a label.
Open Dental has no tentative slot, so Leady books the chair and marks it as waiting. How a held appointment looks in your version is set up and checked with you at onboarding.
The call
Leady offers a time your rules allow and tells the caller your team will confirm it.
Held in the chair
A real appointment in Op 2, marked as waiting, with a note and a log entry. The chair is taken, so nobody else books it.
Your team decides
Approve in the portal or in Open Dental and it is confirmed. Decline and it moves to the Unscheduled List. Nothing is deleted.
It cannot double-book a chair. Our booking engine refuses a second appointment in the same chair at the same time. That is enforced in our database, not in application code.
Your key, your server, your rules.
Connecting Leady is a setting in your own Open Dental, checked before a single call is answered.
BAA first
No practice's Open Dental is connected, and no data is read, before your BAA with us is signed.
Your API key
Leady connects with an Open Dental API key your practice enables. You can revoke it at any time in Open Dental.
Nothing installed
Leady installs nothing on your server. It uses Open Dental's own API through the eConnector your office already runs.
Readiness check
Before go-live we check your version, the key's permissions, that the eConnector is reachable, and your chair map. Nothing is booked until it passes.
Your settings decide
Leady books only the providers and chairs you switch on, and only visits matched to one of your appointment types.
Read-only on Free
On the Free license the key is read-only. Leady recognizes callers and leaves each answered call as a message.
- Coming
If Open Dental is offline
If your server cannot be reached, the agent stops offering times and takes a message. It never guesses at a free slot.
- Coming
If a write fails
Leady retries for a few minutes, then leaves a task for your team. The caller is never told about our systems.
Questions about Open Dental
See all questionsWill Leady read clinical notes or X-rays?
No. The connection has no request for clinical notes, charts, imaging, medical history, insurance claims, ledgers or payroll. It reads the schedule, chairs, providers, appointment types and a caller lookup.
What happens to a hold my team declines?
It moves to the Unscheduled List, not marked missed or canceled, and its note says the practice declined it. Nothing is deleted.
What if a new caller's record already exists?
Leady looks the number up first. It creates a prospective patient only when no active or prospective patient on that number matches, so it does not add a second record.
Do we need to install anything?
No. Leady uses Open Dental's own API through the eConnector your office already runs. The readiness check confirms it before go-live.
